106 222. 5 Second Stop Rig This project involves the development of an electro-mechanical device, designed to challenge users’ precision and timing skills. The device features a timer that measures time in 0.01-second increments, a push button, and an LCD display. Users start the timer and attempt to stop it at exactly 5.00 seconds. If successful, a lamp illuminates, providing immediate feedback. The rig combines mechanical components, electronic circuitry, and amicrocontroller for accurate timing and display functionality. It explores the integration of hardware and software, focusing on precision, user engagement, and robust system design. The device serves as an entertaining and interactive challenge, demonstrating practical applications of engineering principles in measurement, control, and UI design. Omni-Sense This project aims to create an affordable prosthetic for the blind that utilises an often-overlooked sense of touch to reduce the impact lack of sight has on their daily life. Omni-Sense is a wearable proximity sensor mesh that translates the distance of objects in the wearer’s surroundings into a stimulus on their skin. It aims to be unobtrusive, and unnoticable as though it were a second layer of skin. Indoors, Omni- Sense can detect walls, furniture, and people, and communicate their relative position, and distance to the wearer. Outdoors, the base functionality is augmented with GPS navigation through amobile app aiding in long distance navigation, and orientation in the open space. Sentinel – Proactive SystemMonitoring A fully deployed cloud native platform for proactive API monitoring that intelligently generates test cases using boundary testing, fuzz testing, and equivalence partitioning. It executes scheduled synthetic tests to simulate user behavior, enabling developers to identify issues before impacting end users. Deployed on Kubernetes using an event-driven, microservices and serverless architecture, featuring complex test chaining and load testing. Using OpenTelemetry and Prometheus for observability, Testcontainers for integration tests, fully automated CI/CD pipelines with Terraform infrastructure as code. Using domain driven design principles and test driven development, the system’s modular architecture allows for scalability. Sentinel empowers teams to deploy to production with confidence.
